Follow-up CC2

Wim Peters, Maarten Marx, Adam Funk and Willem Jan Faber

Our team did three things:

1. We worked together with Willem Jan Faber from the KB to create a similar functionality as already existing within Polimedia, namely automatically adding high quality links to relevant newspaper articles from the KB newspaper collection  to debates in the Dutch Parliament. Willem Jan did all of the implementation work which can be used at http://politicalmashup.kbresearch.nl.

2. We extracted meaningful key-phrases from the EU and UK proceedings using GATE technology: see the following PDF for more detailed information on this research component.

3. We made the ToE EU proceedings dataset searchable from Politicalmashup.nl. This contains 280K speeches which can be searched and viewed over time. Every structural item in the dataset received a unique URI which can be  resolved via http://resolver.politicalmashup.nl. Also all parties and EU parliament members received a unique URI resolvable via http://resolver.politicalmashup.nl. See example 1 and example 2.
